A team of Indian scientists has rolled out an AI-based platform. The platform, developed by IIT Madras, will boost innovation in the field of AI in India.
Dubbed as ‘AI4Bharat’, the platform will be used to develop AI solutions for tackling issues in the field of health care, agriculture and others. The founders of the platform are two assistant professors in the department of science and engineering. Students can also use the platform for mentorship in the field of AI and solve real-world problems.
One of the founders, Mr Kumar said that AI is one of the major technologies in the current generation. But, the majority of the research in AI is driven by the problems of the Western countries. For example, the development of self-driving takes priority over developing systems for assessing the conditions of rural roads.
The new platform will be used by a startup called "One-Fourth Labs" in order to provide basic and advanced AI online courses in less price; as low as Rs 1,000 for a period of five months.
"One-Fourth Labs" was incorporated by the founders of the new platform. Developed in IIT Madras, the lab focuses on designing and delivering low-cost AI-based hands-on course and related topics,
The new platform launch is a big boost for IIT Madras in terms of innovation. Apart from its commercial use, Students will be greatly benefited by the platform as well.
