Safeguarding Citizens Privacy: Central Government to use AI and Update laws

The central government of India will leverage advanced AI-based tools and monitor insights to boost governance quality for the citizens of the nation.  Apart from that, the government will also enhance security over the privacy and ownership of citizen’s data by updating its regulatory and legal framework.

Suresh Prabhu, Ministry of Commerce stated that AI is a modern day technology and the country who can master it will rule the world. Every country is focusing on AI strategy and India is also working on it for its usage for the common good.

The government is using AI to carry out good governance and correct guidelines and right actions will be undertaken to safeguard the privacy and ownership of citizen’s data.

Both the center and state governments are looking to expand the services through online platforms in order to cut down corruption and to prevent disruptions in delivery of government services to the public. And the majority of the services and departments have also switched to social media platforms for circulating information like grievance redressal and governance schemes.

Due to the popularity of social media platforms and online tools, could be a concern over the ownership and privacy of user data. The general elections are also ahead, hence, any data breach could result in influencing the elections in the world’s largest democracy.

It was clearly demonstrated when a lobbying firm Cambridge Analytica was accused of utilizingFacebook users’ data for political propaganda in many nations.
