Engineer.ai aims to expand its employee count in India in the next three months

AI-based platform, Engineer.ai, has made an announcement that it will double its employee count in India over the following three months. Co-founded by Sachin Dev Duggal and Saurabh Dhoot, Engineer.ai, enables people to develop software with little or no knowledge of coding. CEO Sachin Dev said that the company will target to reach a head count of 250-300 employees from its current number of 150. It will also be focusing on increasing its employees in its UK and US operations. “Half the additions will be deep engineering talent, while the rest would be customer and product experts”, he added.

The company, in November 2018, had raised $29.5 million in Series-A funding from Lakestar and Jungle Ventures, with participation from SoftBank’s DeepCore. The venture as said by Sachin Dev is cashflow positive having generated $24 million in revenue last year. “Seventy percent of the funds will be used to scale our technology and take the things we’ve built to the next scale point”, he said. The company will direct its focus on acquiring customers, sales and developing and building things that the business would need in the future.

Engineer.ai’s core product is Builder. It offers 500 building blocks of code that are frequently used and can be cross utilised by different customers. The firm has 32,000 engineers currently who will work on it to tailor it as per the client’s requirements. Also its partnerships with the Indian development shops enable it to use their slack capacity. Sachin said that they have restructured their hiring function in a way that different aspects of recruiting are distributed among different people so that they find quality tech talent.
