India-based Avataar Secures $45M in Series B

The round was led by Tiger Global with co-participation from existing investor Sequoia Capital India

India-based AI and Computer Vision platform Avaatar has secured $45 million in its Series B round of funding which was led by Tiger Global with co-participation from existing investor Sequoia Capital India.

Headquartered in Bangalore, India, Avataar has raised $55.5 million in total funding. The company is creating immersive interactive shopping experience and reimagining the visual discovery journey. The company uses XR+AR technology platform.

"The Metaverse is already here, just not evenly distributed. Avataar.me is leading the way in bringing scale creation capabilities to the largest brands to enable commerce - an application with tremendous promise in AR/VR environments. Sravanth, Gaurav, and Mayank have been a delight to work with and Sequoia Capital India is excited to re-iterate its commitment in their Series B round," said Shailesh Lakhani, MD at Sequoia India.

Established in 2014, Avataar has over 10 US patents and strategic partnership with Google and Facebook, and remains committed to its aim to reshape the digital commerce industry through delivering life-size 3D and XR+AR first experiences across all consumer touchpoints through their proprietary platform. The company is working with automobile, retail, and e-commerce brands across the US, Asia and Europe.
