BCCI gets the green signal from the sports ministry to organize IPL in UAE

The most awaited sporting event, the Indian Premier League (IPL), is set to take place in UAE. The Indian Sports Ministry has approved the BCCI's request to shift the IPL 2020 outside the country and organize it in the UAE, which has been proposed between September 19 and November 8. The mandatory clearance by Indian Sports Ministry was officially sent to BCCI on Monday.

BCCI is now waiting for the Ministry of External Affairs and Union Home Ministry to conduct the cash-rich tournament overseas amid the coronavirus. BCCI officials also have confirmed this; the board also stated that it would be sending the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) to the Ministry for approval soon.

Meanwhile, the Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) confirmed that it had received a formal letter of intent from BCCI to host IPL 2020 in the country. "We have received the (official) letter and now wait on the Indian government's decision, which will ink the final deal," ECB Secretary-General Mubashshir Usmani stated. Once confirmed, this will be the second time in IPL history that it is being hosted in the UAE.
