India and the European Union has resolved to step up cooperation in environment and climatic change and is all set to extend its ambit of collaboration in other areas like space, science, and technology. The two sides have decided to extend the cooperation in air, water quality, and nuclear energy at the 15th India-summit. Narendra Modi, the Prime Minister of India, led the Indian side in the summit. In contrast, the European Union was led by a delegation headed by European Council President Charles Michel and President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen.
India and the EU have signed the India-EURATOM Agreement to bring about a research and development cooperation to use nuclear energy better and a peaceful way. This agreement will also help India develop its space science, science, and technology sector and build new design and R & D sectors to build India's space models and other essential engines.
"India and the EU will engage constructively in the global stocktake in 2023, the outcome of which shall inform the updating and enhancing in a nationally determined manner of the actions, and support in accordance with the relevant provisions of the Paris Agreement," the joint statement issued after the summit said.
