Rashtriya Chemicals and Fertilizers start a new methanol plant in Mumbai

Rashtriya Chemicals and Fertilizers (RCF), a PSU under the Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers, have started the production of Methanol at Trombay Unit, Mumbai. Methanol is widely being used in the production of pharmaceuticals, pesticides, and dyestuffs, among others. With Methanol production, the company shall no longer be dependent on imports for its requirement. It will also be in a position to satisfy the needs of other methanol dependent industries.

"The company said that it could produce 242 MT of Methanol per day. The company has entered into the select list of Methanol producers in the country, providing alternate to import and thus contributing towards Government's most ambitious project 'Atmanirbhar Bharat' Abhiyaan," the firm’s officials informed about it in a recent press meet.

It is said that RCF has an overall capacity to produce over 242 tons of methanol per day. To date, RCF has been importing methanol from European countries for its internal consumption and various trading purposes. RCF shall no longer be dependent on imports for its requirement and will also be able to satisfy the needs of other methanol dependent industries.
