“Secure your sensitive data and prevent insider threats with Safe-T‘s Software Defined Perimeter (SDP)”
Organizations often overlook the fact that employees are the most harmful threat. Security leaders are well aware of the challenge posed by this but they are not able to understand the magnitude of this problem. Insider threats are inevitable and legacy data loss prevention solutions often don’t get their job done. An insider threat can happen when the employee with authorized access misuses their credentials to negatively impact the organization and leak proprietary information.
Prevent data exposure with Safe-T’s secure & simplified access to applications and files. Safe-T’s solutions help organizations to stop compromising between securities and “getting work done” with flexible, non-intrusive access solutions for on-premises, cloud and hybrid work environments. Safe-T Data is a computer and network security provider based in Israel and it was established in 2013.
In conversation with Shachar Daniel Co-founder and CEO of Safe-T Data
Q. Can you tell us about the Journey of you company till date?
Safe-T was started back in 2013 to sell data security products in two main solution areas – Secure Data Exchange and Secure Data Access. We initially started sales in Israel but very soon after we started going global – Europe and US. In our initial 3 years, we were able to sell to a few prestigious companies in the US and EU, as well as sign two OEM partners for our access solution. After understanding that the secure data exchange market has become crowded, we decided to pivot and focus solely on secure access. This was during the 1st half of 2018 at which point the Software Defined Perimeter (SDP) market started taking form. Since then we have been focusing mainly on developing the product to secure our application access solution.
Q. How successful was your first project? Share the experience.
Our 1st major project was in a US state government. The state itself reached out to us for a POC, after placing us on their short list of potential vendors. After rigorous testing, we were able to pass the POC successfully, beating much larger competitors. The state then purchased our solution and continued to purchase more licenses as the years went on.
Q. What challenges did you face in your initial years? What can your peers learn from it?
As a player in a new market there are a lot of challenges. One of the main challenges was to raise awareness within the customer base. We actually need to educate customers about the critical value of Zero Trust Network Access. It’s a matter of having to re-educate people; they think what they’ve already got in place is sufficient. From our own experience, we know this isn’t the reality, but we’ve got to work against their preconceived notions of perimeter defense.
Q. Can you tell us about your products and services in brief?
Safe-T Group Ltd. (NADSAQ, TASE: SFET) is a provider of Zero Trust Access solutions which mitigate attacks on enterprises’ business-critical services and sensitive data, while ensuring uninterrupted business continuity. Safe-T Group’s cloud and on-premises solutions ensure that an organization’s access use cases, whether into the organization or from the organization out to the internet, are secured according to the “validate first, access later” philosophy of Zero Trust. This means that no one is trusted by default from inside or outside the network, and verification is required from everyone trying to gain access to resources on the network or in the cloud. Safe-T Group’s wide range of access solutions reduce organization’s attack surface and improve their ability to defend against modern cyber threats. Safe-T’s Software Defined Perimeter (SDP) transforms access challenges into access advantages. Secure Application Access grants access to applications on a need-to-know basis ONLY, while giving your users fast and seamless access to the resources they need.
Q. Fostering a culture of feedback is crucial to the success of every organization. How is this true with your company?
We make sure to collect feedback from our customers using annual satisfaction surveys. In addition, we stay attentive throughout the year. If a customer comes to us with a specific suggestion or concern, we do our best to include it on our road map as well.
Q. As a question on sustainability, where do you see your company a couple of years from now?
We hope to continue being a leader in the SDP/ZTNA market, with heightened brand awareness. We are planning to use our superior technology and unsurpassed customer support to create enough brand awareness that we eventually dominate the SDP market.
