Furnishing Practical Solutions and Business Intelligence to Digitally Transform the Way Your Business Operates: Alpha7

The Silicon Review
July, 2020

“With a team of experienced cloud advisors, we combine our expertise, insights, and know-how to provide you the business intelligence that identifies gaps and recommend solutions.”

SMEs are the fastest growing sector in Asia and the same can be said for management consulting as well; however, this growth comes with a lot of challenges. Most of the SMEs can solve these challenges on their own but many times the problematic situation that arises is beyond their capability to solve. A good consulting firm with cloud-based technology is one of the fastest and economical solutions for SMEs that aspire to scale new heights.

Besides, cloud computing is becoming a game-changer for SMEs by offering scalable infrastructure and capabilities available as services. It is a paradigm where computing resources are available when needed, and you pay for their use in much the same way as for household utilities. Cloud is a shift in the consumption and delivery of IT to simplify to manage complexity more effectively. Cloud represents the industrialization of delivery for IT-supported services. Cloud models are delivering on the promise to help businesses work smarter by providing flexible, cost-effective access to technology and information.

Alpha7 is one such firm that was born out of a dream to help businesses to expand beyond borders, and the company works closely with its clients to analyze operations and recommends the best way to connect people, processes, and technology. The firm helps small and growing businesses transform in today’s digital economy. With the firm’s in-house data experts, Alpha7 introduced A7 IoB® (A7 Internet of Business), a self-service digital workspace tool, built to empower small and growing businesses to take charge of their biggest asset: business data. Thus, allowing businesses to use data and make smarter data-driven decisions. Alpha7 aims to be the trusted cloud advisor, working towards its clients’ business goals by leveraging cloud technology.

The firm was founded in 2013 and is headquartered in Singapore.

Lynette Seah: Interview Highlights

Q. Can you tell us about your services in brief?

We provide cloud services for SMEs. With a team of experienced cloud advisors, we combine our expertise, insights, and know-how to provide you the business intelligence that identifies gaps and recommends solutions. We work with our clients’ to:

  • Analyze your business to plan for growth with our proprietary framework
  • Recommend the best way to connect your people, process, and technology with industry experts,
  • Implement solutions and manage your project implementation to save you the hassle of working with various vendors.

We also offer other services such as consulting, business advisory, digital marketing, website development, e-commerce, data analytics, and business dashboard.

Q. What are some of the significant challenges you faced in the initial years and how did you overcome them?

I still haven’t faced any significant challenges, I believe. The challenges in terms of adaptability, meeting new people and talking to them to bridge the gap between never-ending digital transformation and infrastructure development, which is drastically changing day-by-day because of the pace of adoption and adaptability. I can give you an example, the few financial officers I talk to, and they don’t have an overall picture of this year’s key metrics. That’s how fast this sector is growing and you can’t figure out the exact change that is occurring. That said, there are many challenges in the coming year.

Q. Can you tell us about your A7 IoB® (A7 Internet of Business) service?

A7 IoB is a fully-featured Reporting Software designed to serve Agencies, Startups. A7 IoB provides end-to-end solutions designed for the Web App. We launched A7 IoB (A7 Internet of Business) in 2017. The platform enables business owners to view their business data (on marketing, sales, operations, finance, and HR) in just one place. It can also be used by enterprises to provide services for their SME clients. Our app is built to empower small and growing businesses to use analytics for data-driven decisions. Enterprises that are helping SMEs can also leverage A7 IoB® to provide value-added services to them.

It is a business dashboard tool that makes data analysis simple, effective, and quick. Connect data from various applications, build and choose out of the box KPIs is important to your business and visualize all your data in real-time. A7 IoB lets you customize dashboards and visualize your data on one platform. A7 IoB® is a business dashboard that consolidates your data, allowing you to visualize and focus on actionable KPIs for effective decisions.

Q. There are other players in this vertical. How do you distinguish yourself from the rest?

By always being the subject matter experts, we mainly focus on our people and clients. We help our clients’ organizations not only transform technologically and digitally but also infrastructure wise. Besides, we provide the best possible cloud infrastructure to help our clients’ organizations and their people grow.

Q. People like when companies are involved in social welfare/CSR activities, what do you say about this?

Alpha7’s unique initiative, the ‘Make a Difference’ program, aims to make a positive difference and give back to society. Everyone on our team is granted five days of paid leave a year to embark on a community service activity of their choice.

Q. If you had one piece of advice to budding entrepreneurs, what would it be?

Look out for your health first. It should be the primary priority. The technological advancements, business, and all other things will fall into the right place only if you are healthy. Why I am saying this is, three years ago I was diagnosed with cancer and did recover. But now, I am not ready to push myself. My health has become my priority now. So, stay healthy.

Secondly, in today’s world, the complexity of business requirements in terms of technology, people, and processes figure out what you want, before just asking for others for advice, because if you have a vision that is unique, different and which doesn’t fit the status quo, other people’s advice might not necessarily be applicable. Stop looking for an answer; instead, ask as many questions as possible. For instance, I ask a lot of questions to people around me and my self. That is when you get a clear idea about where you and your company stand. Just keep yourself going, be informed, and also guide others in terms of what they are lacking be it a business requirement or anything in general.
