Q. Explain the technological and business market scenario in India.
A lot of things have changed since the day we started with Scube Scientific Software Solutions. We have witnessed several technological upgrades happening over the period of time. Still there are many new opportunities, where we can explore and make new innovations.
Q. The number of companies in India is way too many, and the competition in the market is to its peak. How do you think can one make their own way?
The number of companies existing in the market or the competition, we believe, has never been an issue. The ones who will truly succeed are the firms who have the most innovative products and ideas and execution plans.
Q. How has the journey of the company been so far?
Scube Scientific Software Solutions was established in 2004, and in 2006, we got India distributorship of our molecular modeling software, Gaussian. In FY 2008-09, we crossed 1 Cr Sale. In the year 2010, we got Mathematica software India distributorship, and crossed 3 Cr insales in FY 2012-13, 5 Cr in FY 2015-16, 6 Cr in FY 2018-19.
Primarily, we have been working in the Indian market, but we are well aware of the value of achieving a global business standard. We are ISO 9001: 2015 and D & B Certified B3 Company. We are also certified “Quality in Business” by International Trade Council.
Q. Any company, big or small, must have the sense of authenticity and originality to succeed. Is your company a leader or a follower?
Office automation software was sold only when we started selling our scientific software. We were probably the first to introduce scientific software selling; hence, we can say that we are leaders and not followers.
Q. What were the challenges that you had to go through in your initial years?
Initially, our major challenge came from the unawareness of people about the utility of computer software in scientific research. So it took us quite a long time to convince professors and scientists of the utility and functionality of the software.
Q. Between ever-increasing market sophistication, needs, and diversified customer base, many business and IT leaders don’t know what they really have—even when they think they do. How do you manage to serve the needs of highly volatile market?
Our issue is simple. We don’t want to push our sales but we basically talk to the actual user and try to understand their need and align our product based on that need.
Q. If you have to list five factors that have been the biggest asset to your organization, what would they be and why?
We believe that the following factors have really contributed to a great deal in leading our organization on the path to success.
Q. As a question on sustainability, where do you see your company in a couple of years from now?
In another couple of years, we want to increase our product sale figures to 10-15% YoY Basis and also planning have a dedicated Service Vertical up and running.

Mr. Debasish Bhattacharya, who has over 20 years of experience in IT sales, started this business in the year 2004. During that time, idea about IT only enclosed office automation but no IT initiative on scientific research.
