The Silicon Review
December, 2018

An understanding of soil chemical properties is important because of their effect on nutrient availability to plants. Also, these properties may usually be favorably altered with the use of lime and/or fertilizer materials. Many plants need 18 elements for normal growth and completion of their life cycle. These elements are called the essential plant nutrients. Soil amendments containing the essential plant nutrients or having the effect of favorably changing the soil chemistry have been developed and used to enhance plant nutrition. These amendments are our lime and fertilizer materials.

In view of the above-mentioned scenario, we’re thrilled to present Perdaman.

The company operates as a fertiliser company and manufactures ammonia and urea. It was formerly known as North West Chemicals and Fertilisers Pty Ltd. and changed its name to North West Chemicals and Fertilisers Pty Ltd. in March 2009. Perdaman was founded in 2006 and is headquartered in Perth, Australia. Perdaman operates as a subsidiary of Perdaman Industries Pty Ltd.

Vikas Rambal, Perdaman Managing Director/Chairman, spoke to The Silicon Review. Below is an excerpt.

How did you coin the term ‘Perdaman’?

Perdaman Group is named in honour of my late father Perdaman Krishan Rambal who was a man of strong moral ethics. Mirroring his character of integrity, hard work and concern for others, Perdaman Group strives to be the best in communities across all our ventures.

As we continue to look for exciting new opportunities and grow our existing businesses, we always remember our ethos of ‘Creating a Better Tomorrow’ and invite you to discuss with us mutually beneficial opportunities for the future.

What’s Perdaman about?

Perdaman Group is a multinational group with a long-standing track record in involvement within a diverse range of markets. From investments in fertiliser production to help our farmers produce crops, to the ownership and management of shopping centres that make wonderful experiences and community hubs; from the production and distribution of pharmaceuticals to provide better healthcare, to migration services and advanced energy solutions, we are an innovative company that actively seeks out new opportunities.

These are just some of the commercial aspects of Perdaman Group. Integral to this is our corporate culture of creating leaders and growing together as a team, and all of our operations are backed by extensive financial services to ensure strength and growth.

We are also highly involved in the community and actively give back – from supporting local sporting teams to contributing towards better education. We do what we do with passion, and we do what we do with a sincere desire to create a better tomorrow.

Tell us about Perdaman Industries (Chemicals & Fertilizers).

Perdaman Industries (Chemicals & Fertilisers) is a Western Australian based multinational group with a current focus on the production of urea, the most commonly traded nitrogenous fertiliser. Urea is non-toxic, has high nitrogen content and can be easily transported and stored.

The company is striving and working hard to complete this project in the near future, which will see a total investment of $4.0 billion.

The plant will be located in Karratha, Western Australia, and with a planned capacity of two million ton per annum, most of the urea produced by the plant will be exported.

With an ever-growing global population, and therefore an ever-increasing demand for agricultural food products, there is a natural flow-on effect for the requirement of fertiliser within the agricultural supply chain. In addition to helping improve agricultural output and the worldwide shortage of fertiliser, we will add value to Australia’s resources. Urea is safe and clean as well as being easily transported.

We expect to create approximately 2,000 jobs including 200 permanent at the plant, which will further stimulate the local economy.
