HP has introduced Computers That Can Be Sterilized

HP has introduced Computers That Can Be Sterilized

HP unveils a new line of computers exclusively targeted for hospitals. HP has announced 3 models that will hit the market by May 2018, namely - EliteOne 800 Healthcare Edition All-in-One desktop, 27-inch HP Healthcare Edition Clinical Review Display, and EliteBook 840 Healthcare Edition notebook.

The electronic components of these devices are designed to withstand the moisture intake of an antibacterial wipe and hence remain undamaged. These machines can survive an antibacterial wipe on their surfaces.

These devices also support the recognition of RFID tags via the touchpad, which will allow the hospital employees to sign into their workplace. The touchpad is calibrated to distinguish between bare hands and hands with surgical gloves on. The notebook is also equipped with a fingerprint sensor.

These products aim to reduce the HAIs (healthcare-associated infections), which is reported to cause around 1.7 million infections and 99,000 deaths in the U.S. alone.

Furthermore, these machines aim to prevent the number of malware attacks by having an isolated, crypto-secured security controller, thus fulfilling the job of protecting sensitive patient information.

Being one of its kinds in the entire tech market, there is much promise seen in this first generation of hospital friendly computers. With time, this concept will flourish, thereby preventing or minimizing the illicit spread of diseases within the hospital environment.
